Chancellor's Scholarship

The Chancellor’s scholarship is Missouri S&T’s most prestigious academic scholarship for incoming freshmen from the state of Missouri. It is valued at $12,000 per year and renewable for up to 4 years.

Eligibility Requirements
• Have a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or be in the top 10% of high school class after six semesters
• Take the ACT or SAT prior to December 1 and obtain an ACT superscore of 31 or higher OR obtain a SAT superscore of 1390 EBRW or higher
• Be a resident of the state of Missouri
• Be a spring 2021 high school graduate

You will need to write a 750 word or less essay and the top 50 finalists will receive an invitation to discuss his/her essay on campus, Saturday, January 30, 2021. (This may be altered to an online interview, if necessary)

  1. Your essay should be 750 words maximum typed in 12 pt. Times New Roman font and double spaced (please note that the title and reference page will not be counted in the 750 word count, but in-text citations will be counted). Applicant must use APA style formatting; you must exclude your name and high school affiliation to maintain anonymity (you can put something generic on the title page, such as “future student” and your institution should be Missouri University of Science and Technology) and an abstract page is not needed. Your reference page should include a minimum of 3 references. Uploaded essays should be in PDF. Your essay will not upload if you have special characters or apostrophes in the title.     The year 2020 marks the 150th anniversary of Missouri S&T’s founding as the Rolla School of Mines, in what is now called the Rolla building. Choose one of the university’s Alumni of Influence (from 2016 or 2011), located at https://influence.mst.edu/, and research not only the alumnus’ accomplishments, but also that person’s career field. How does the Alumnus/Alumna of Influence you chose symbolize the spirit of science and technology, discovery, and innovation that you would like to achieve at Missouri S&T? Include in your essay, research you have conducted on discovery and innovation not only by the Alumnus/Alumna of Influence, but also the steps that individual took in her/his education and career. How has your chosen Alumnus/Alumna of Influence inspired you to advance your journey of discovery and achievement? How will your education in science, technology, the arts, social sciences, and the humanities guide you on your way when continuing the alumnus or alumna’s legacy?
